Painting homes in Kanata

Ottawa House & Cabinet Painting serves every part of Kanata: Beaverbrook, Katimavik, Glen Cairn, Bridlewood, Kanata Lakes, Morgan’s Grant, Briarbrook and Kanata North. Interior repaints, exterior painting and staining, kitchen cabinet refinishing, ceiling texture removal and drywall repair, with free on-site estimates.

Kanata is really two housing stocks wearing one name, and they need opposite things. Beaverbrook, Katimavik and Glen Cairn are Campeau-era homes from the late 1960s through the 1980s — cedar and wood siding that needs stain or paint maintenance every several years, textured ceilings, and oil-finished interior trim. Bridlewood, Kanata Lakes and Morgan’s Grant are 1990s to 2010s builder housing where the work is repainting thin builder-grade flat, tall stairwells and open great rooms. We quote them differently because they are different jobs.

What Kanata calls us for

The jobs this neighbourhood actually needs.

Every community in Ottawa has its own housing stock and its own recurring problems. These are the ones we see most in Kanata.

01

Cedar and wood siding, staining and painting

Beaverbrook and Katimavik homes were built with real wood cladding, and it needs recoating on a cycle rather than once. We wash, scrape back failed coating, spot-prime bare cedar to block tannin bleed, and finish in a product matched to what is already on the wall — stain over stain, paint over paint.

02

Great room and open stairwell painting

Kanata Lakes and Bridlewood homes have the double-height spaces that make DIY painting genuinely unsafe. We stage them properly, which is also the only way to get a straight cut line eighteen feet up.

03

Cabinet refinishing

The honey oak and golden maple kitchens throughout Glen Cairn and Bridlewood are the most common cabinet job we take in the west end. Doors come off, get sprayed off-site, and go back on in about a week — without gutting the kitchen.

04

Ceiling texture removal

The stipple ceilings across Katimavik and Glen Cairn come off, get skim-coated smooth and repainted. As with any Ottawa home from that era, we test the texture for asbestos before disturbing it.

Why Kanata homeowners hire us

  • 27 years, one owner. Sean has been painting Ottawa homes since 1999 and still walks every estimate personally.
  • The same crew, start to finish. No subcontractors handed your keys partway through the job.
  • A fixed written price. Quoted after an on-site visit, not over the phone, and not by the hour.
  • Balance due on satisfaction. A small deposit holds your date; the rest is paid after we walk the job together and you're happy with it.
  • Licensed, WSIB registered, $2M insured. Certificates available before you book.
  • Low-VOC and zero-VOC paints. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams lines that let your family stay in the house.

Kanata questions

Straight answers, Kanata specifics.

Do you charge extra to come out to Kanata?

No. Kanata, Stittsville and the west end are part of our regular service area, and the estimate is free whether you are in Beaverbrook or Morgan’s Grant.

Should my cedar siding be stained or painted?

Whatever is on it now, generally. Stain can go over stain, and paint over paint, but paint over a previously stained surface needs the surface stripped or fully primed or it will not hold. We check at the estimate rather than guessing, because getting this wrong shows up two winters later as peeling.

How long does a full interior repaint take in a Kanata Lakes home?

A larger Kanata Lakes or Morgan’s Grant single — walls, ceilings, trim and doors throughout — is usually five to eight working days with our crew. You get a start date and a finish date in writing, and the same crew is there the whole time.

Can you work around a home office?

Regularly. A lot of Kanata North clients work from home, so we sequence rooms so your office is either untouched or done in a single day, and we agree on quiet hours for anything noisy before we start.
