A painting company, not a lead broker.

Ottawa House and Cabinet Painting is an owner-operated painting company that has worked in the National Capital Region since 1999. We paint house interiors and exteriors, refinish kitchen and bathroom cabinets, remove stipple and popcorn ceilings, and repair drywall. Estimates are free, done on-site, and given as a fixed written price.

A lot of what comes up when you search for an Ottawa painting company is not actually a painting company. Some of it is a lead-generation site that sells your phone number to whoever is buying that week, and some of it is a national franchise that subcontracts the actual painting to a crew you have not met. Both models have the same weak point: nobody in the chain is accountable for the finish. Sean owns this business, quotes every job himself, and is on site while his crew works.

What you get, specifically

  • A fixed written quote. Produced after we look at your home, not guessed over the phone. The number on the quote is the number you pay.
  • Employees, not subcontractors. The same crew from the first day to the walk-through.
  • A 2-year written workmanship guarantee. If our work fails, we come back and fix it.
  • Balance due on satisfaction. A small deposit holds the date. The rest is paid after you have walked the job and you are happy.
  • $2M liability insurance, WSIB registered, fully licensed. Certificates on request before booking.
  • Low-VOC and zero-VOC paints. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams lines, so your family can stay in the house.

What we do

01

Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors and stairwells. Full-home repaints, single rooms, basements and new-build first finishes. Full floor and furniture protection, nightly cleanup.

02

Kitchen cabinet refinishing

Doors sprayed off-site to a factory-smooth finish, boxes finished in place, back together in about a week. Typically 30–60% of the cost of replacing the kitchen.

03

Exterior painting

Siding, brick, stucco, soffit and fascia, front and garage doors, porches and railings. Booked April through October while Ottawa temperatures let coatings cure.

04

Stipple & popcorn ceiling removal

Scraped, skimmed smooth, primed and repainted. Pre-1980 texture is tested for asbestos before anything is disturbed.

05

Drywall & plaster repair

Nail pops, settlement cracks, water damage, holes and failed plaster keys — repaired properly so the patch does not flash through the paint.

06

Wallpaper removal

Paper stripped, adhesive washed off, walls repaired and primed — the sequence that stops old glue from bleeding through your new paint.

Before you hire anyone

Questions worth asking any Ottawa painter.

What makes a good painting company in Ottawa?

Four things worth checking before you sign anything: a fixed written quote produced after an on-site visit rather than a phone estimate, proof of liability insurance and WSIB registration, a stated workmanship guarantee with a length attached to it, and whether the people who show up are employees or subcontractors. Ottawa House and Cabinet Painting has been owner-operated since 1999, carries $2M in liability insurance, guarantees workmanship for two years, and sends the same crew for the whole job.

How much does a painting company charge in Ottawa?

Interior painting in Ottawa generally runs $2 to $6 per square foot of wall area including labour and materials, exterior painting $3 to $8 per square foot of paintable surface, and kitchen cabinet refinishing $3,500 to $7,500 for a typical kitchen. Hourly rates in the $25 to $75 range are common for small jobs, but a fixed price for the whole project protects you better than an hourly rate does.

Which areas of Ottawa do you serve?

All of them, with no travel surcharge anywhere in the city: Barrhaven, Nepean, Kanata, Orléans, Stittsville, Riverside South, Manotick, Westboro, the Glebe, Alta Vista, Gloucester, Greely, Osgoode, Carp, Dunrobin, Constance Bay, Cumberland, Rockland and Embrun.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We are fully licensed, WSIB registered, and carry $2M in liability insurance. Certificates of insurance are available on request before you book, and asking any contractor for them before work starts is entirely reasonable.

Do you require a deposit?

A small booking deposit secures your start date on the schedule. The balance is due only after we walk through the finished work together and you are satisfied with it. We do not ask for the full amount up front.

How far in advance should I book?

Interior projects typically book two to four weeks out, and longer through the September-to-November peak. Exterior work runs late April to mid-October in Ottawa and that calendar fills early, so spring exteriors are worth quoting in February or March.
